Taking a peek behind the scenes and screens at Crosshouse Hospital

Crosshouse Hospital’s annual behind the scenes Open Day on Saturday 10 September 2005 was once again a great success.

Local people who came along to the event were given the chance to talk to those in the know about everything from surgery to careers.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran staff, from a wide range of different departments and careers, were on hand to offer an insight into working for the NHS and to talk to visitors about their careers, giving them information leaflets and literature and advice.

A significant number of those who came along on the day were teenagers interested in finding out about the career opportunities open to them within NHS Ayrshire & Arran. People of all ages and interests, and from all sections of the community, welcomed the chance to talk to clinical teams - and try some hands-on treatment, too.

Various areas in the hospital were open for the public to explore including:

Fiona McQueen, Executive Nurse Director, commented: "This drop-in event gave us an opportunity to show our local community what happens at Crosshouse Hospital on a daily basis.

"Visitors had great fun taking part in the fun activities staff had organised, and were able to find about the wide range of careers available within our hospitals and the different roles our staff play in providing health care services to the people of Ayrshire and Arran."
